Job Description
Our quality lab is currently recruiting personable, detail-oriented, reliable individuals with strong customer service skills to work as part of our team. We currently have an opening for a part-time Phlebotomist in the Puget Sound area.
Float Phlebotomist
Per-diem (no benefits), non-exempt
Varied hours & days with no set schedule
No Sundays or holidays
This position will cover a variety of locations within King and Snohomish counties
POSITION SUMMARY: The phlebotomist performs with proficiency and understanding of all procedures and duties of blood drawing and specimen collection. He/she serves as a primary laboratory representative to patients and physician office staff. Must present a professional appearance and behavior at all times as well as possess the appropriate degree of skill.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Complete phlebotomy training to include all duties listed in the training check off list.
Draws, labels and prepares samples for pick up.
Always makes proper ID of all patients.
Obtain ABN as needed for Medicare patients.
Obtain correct and valid diagnosis code when not provided by the physican.
Order patient lab work in the Laboratory Information System.
Continually reviews the Safety Manual to be sure he/she can act promptly and properly to an emergency.
Participates in weekend and holiday schedules as staffing requirements dictate. Remains flexible and works fair share of overtime or different shifts if necessary during emergencies.
Remains flexible for staffing other locations, within their regional area, to cover vacations, sickness or any other related short staffing situations.
Conforms to laboratory dress code. Presents a neat, clean professional appearance at all times. Wears lab coats while performing phlebotomy procedures. Picture ID must be worn at all times.
Assists in training of new employees or students.
Maintain a professional behavior and a high degree of honesty and a sense of responsibility regarding medical ethics.
Responsible for maintaining proper supply inventory levels.
Transports patient samples to other sites when necessary and delivers reports. Reimbursement for use of private vehicle based on current rate per mile.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times. Attend all compliance and safety training classes and conform to company safety guidelines and requirements.
Conform to established business, procedural and policy practices as well as changes in business methods as they may arise.
Assists with miscellaneous tasks as requested by the lead or supervisor

Job Requirements
Previous lab experience either in a hospital or clinical environment.
Completion of an approved phlebotomy training course, or equivalent experience through previous employment.
One year of recent phlebotomy experience preferred.
Knowledge of basic specimen requirements a must.
EKG experience is a plus.
Reliable transportation is required
