Position Description:
The engineer will be responsible for performing security assessments in a multi-vendor, enterprise-class networked environment. The primary role of the engineer will be to conduct defense-in-depth security assessments of various enterprise-class networks, recommend mitigation steps, and work closely with existing operations personnel to assist in mitigation and network re-design. Assist the team in performing security assessments and analysis, mitigation steps as a result of security analysis, and interact with existing operations staff in designing and implementing mitigation steps. Evaluate, design, and deploy security tools to fill identified security gaps including but not limited to technologies such as network-based IDS/IPS (Sourcefire, Enterasys, Cisco), network infrastructure (Cisco, Juniper, Checkpoint), packet capture (Netwitness, Wireshark), Security Information and Event Management systems (Arcsight), and SSL content proxy (Bluecoat, Websense).
The engineers responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Assess, evaluate, and offer mitigation recommendations pertaining to security risks in an enterprise-class networking environment.
In-depth security analysis of the following network-related components:
Cisco switch, router, and firewall configurations
Perimeter security
Endpoint security
VPN Gateways
Perimeter IDS/IPS
Web Security Gateways
Network Access Control
Interfacing with the customer during meetings, briefings, when providing security assessments/analyses, remediation reports, and other related systems engineering briefings.
Comprehensive report writing surrounding assessment-based findings, results, and recommendations.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience with security technologies including:
Intrusion Detection Systems
Security Information Management systems
Log Analysis and Management tools
Packet capture and analysis tools
3+ years experience in Network design and operations experience in a multi-vendor environment (Checkpoint, Cisco, Juniper).
1+ years of experience with incident management and operations workflows.
Network certifications (i. e. CCDA, CCNP, CCDP, CCSP).
Aptitude for learning new network and security technologies and applying them to new and existing infrastructures.
Preferred Qualifications:
Security Certifications (CISSP, SANS) considered a plus.
Systems certifications (RHCE, MCSE) considered a plus.
Experience with compliance standards and security best practices (NIST guidelines, CIS benchmarks, DISA STIGs, etc. ).
Citrix and other remote access technologies considered a plus.
This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Secret security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
