Position Summary
A successful candidate for this project manager position will have the following skill set:
1. Government and 3rd party billing experience
2. AAPC certified professional coder
3. A strong understanding of Medicare compliance rules and regulations
4. Experience with Medicare coverage analysis.
The Project Manager has primary responsibility for facilitating the planning, implementation and postimplementation phases of various strategic projects for the department, and/or Maine Medical Center and/or atparticipating regional hospitals. The Project Manager will determine the appropriate qualitative and quantitativemeasures to evaluate progress and successful implementation. These projects will result in measurableimprovements that will impact clinical, administrative, financial systems, and/or the infrastructural systems of MMCand that will benefit our patients, families and staff. The Project Manager will also provide regular progressreporting to his/her supervisor and other groups as appropriate.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Bachelor's degree in a related field. Master's preferred. Information Systems may accept a combination ofmanagement and technical experience which is usually acquired through the completion of a Bachelor'sDegree program.
2. Three to five+ years project management experience that are multidisciplinary in nature with documentedsuccess. (Check with department for specific experience requirements. ) The position may also require theincumbent have proven work experience related to the specific area of focus (e. g. clinical processimprovement and facilitation, patient safety, etc. ).
3. A high level of interpersonal skills are necessary to support dynamic work teams and communicateeffectively with a wide variety of patients/families, hospital administrative staff, clinicians and externalcontacts and vendors.
4. A high level of analytical and critical thinking skills are needed to assist in the development of newsystems, techniques, procedures and to develop special and recurring reports or analysis.
5. Excellent oral and written presentation skills; ability to write and present for a variety of audiences.
6. Demonstrated highly developed organizational skills.
7. May require highly developed negotiation skills. (Check with department to see if this is a requirement. )
8. Knowledgeable of computer programs needed for position.
