Announcement:
IRG seeks a Training and Development Specialist to provide support for the Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA) under USAIDs Bureau of Democracy, Conflict, and Humanitarian Assistance (DCHA). The candidate will assist with programs and activities that focus on staff training and capacity building to meet the evolving performance needs of OFDA in response to natural disasters and complex emergencies.

Examples of various training subject matter areas include: Introduction to Disaster Assessment; OFDA Proposal Review; Land Navigation and Mapping; Security Overseas Seminar; First Aid/CPR Training; Landmine Awareness; and Civilian/Military Collaboration. The incumbent will receive training, as needed, in specific subject areas to effectively facilitate trainings in these areas.

This is a mid-level associate position requiring 3-5 years of relevant experience.

Design, develop, and revise training sessions, courses, and presentations
Coordinate and work with other DCHA training providers/organizers and subject matter experts
Participate in developing strategic training directions and plans in support of OFDAs overall goals
Develop and produce training materials, job aids, and online materials
Participate as an active member of the Training Unit team and represent the Unit at regular OFDA meetings, proposal reviews, disaster declarations, and conferences
Provide technical assistance to field-based capacity-building and training programs as requested
Designs individual and group training plans
Management and Ordering of appropriate training supplies (e. g. , markers, LCD projector, computers)
Prepares training bulletins, circulars, and/or announcements as needed to make staff aware of upcoming training, convey important information, etc.
Coordinates with supervisors and Senior Training and Development Specialist to ensure that all OFDA staff have maintained currency for security training for their assigned roles
Facilitate and/or host instructor led
Design and deploy computer based training.
Serve on a Response Management Team or Disaster Assistance Response Team as requested by OFDA Senior Management

3-5 years experience in providing workplace training services, such as training program development and planning, training session design, training of trainers, strategic planning, design and delivery of adult participatory training, and logistical coordination
Relevant degree in training, adult education, international development, international communication, or related field
Demonstrated experience with organizing and facilitating training sessions, as well as working with subject matter experts to develop training activities
1-3 years of experience in the design and evaluation of on-line learning courses. Experience using Captivate is preferred but experience using other instructional design software may be acceptable.
Ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance
