Title: FIELD SUPPORT SPECIALIST
Location: USA-Louisiana-Lockport
Other Locations:

L-3 Communication Systems-East, provides leading edge secure communications systems and expertise for the U. S. military, is looking for a Field Support Specialist to be located in Lockport, Louisiana.

Duties/Responsibilities: Candidate will be responsible for directly supporting on-site and off-site installation and integration efforts for the iCom business area. Candidate will be responsible for an operational understanding of the system: hardware, software, cables, antennas, etc. and will configure, modify, test, and debug the system accordingly. Candidate must have good customer interfacing and interrelationship skills, as the candidate will work closely with the customer, other sub-contractors, shipyard, and the military (e. g. Navy, Coast Guard). Candidate will be the lead Program Office interface between the customer at the shipyard and the home office in Camden. Candidate will verify proper connectivity throughout the asset (e. g. ship) by means of signal tracing and functional tests. Candidate will support factory acceptance tests, system sell-off, and requirement/design verification and validation. Candidate must be able to work autonomously or in a team setting. Candidate must be able to travel to and work at various field sites including shipyards, communication stations, and command centers (domestic and international) for up to 12 months at a time. Candidate must be able to work significant compensated overtime. Candidate must possess good communication skills and interface with customers as well as various sub-contractors and sub-system developers. Candidate must be capable of interpreting installation drawings, Interconnect Diagrams, assembly drawings, wire connection lists, etc. and to redline and update documentation as needed. Candidate will be required to configure and operate entire communication system including its lower-level components (LRUs). Candidate will be required to troubleshoot system, including but not limited to cabling, interconnects, configuration, software, hardware, functionality, and performance. Candidate will be required to write clearly and concisely and to provide accurate and complete status reports on an up to daily basis. Candidate will be expected to isolate and resolve problems quickly and accurately. Candidate will be required to work with CS-E vendors and suppliers who visit the shipyard to sell-off their respective subsystems. Candidate will be required to assess the readiness of the ship and associated ship subsystems needed to support planned system testing. This will include formulation of entry criteria for the start of planned tests, and ensuring that the entry criteria are met before tests are scheduled and resources committed. This information will be relayed to the Engineering Manager and Program Office in a timely manner so as to prevent schedule conflicts. Ideally, candidate will have shipboard systems integration experience.

Requirements: Education Requirements: BS in Electronics desired, or equivalent experience. Experience Requirements: 2-5 years experience with integration, test, and debug of large-scale communication systems required. Practical re-work skills required e. g. solder, build connectors/cables, operate test equipment. Familiarity with shipboard communication systems is highly desired. Experience with military and commercial radios, baseband equipment, telephony, cryptos, voice/data terminals, and cable design a plus.

Clearance Requirement: CURRENT DOD Secret (or higher) clearance is required.

Position is slated for Lockport, Louisiana. Relocation expenses are not provided.
