Job description
The Business Strategy Consultant (SC) applies strategy consulting skills as well as knowledge of industry, process, measurement, and tools to develop hypotheses, frame issues, synthesize and analyze data, and drive solutions to transform the client's business. The SC provides team leadership and manages client relationships in complex environments. Other contributions may include, pursuit work, contributions to thought leadership, and performing knowledge management. The Strategy Consultant will lead teams, support recruiting and practice community development, and mentor junior practitioners.

The SC role helps clients develop deep insights leading to value-creating, enterprise-wide or business unit-wide business and market strategies. Taking into account economic, regulatory, environmental and technological drivers, SCs identify opportunities and design business models. To this end, Business Strategists work with clients to address three fundamental questions: Where should we compete in the marketplace? (e. g. products, markets and channels) How should we compete? (e. g. , sources of competitive advantage, business models)? What are the implications for the organization (e. g. business design, skills, footprint)?

IBMs Business Strategy capabilities are supported by a unique set of methodologies, tools and thought leadership. Specific service offerings include, among others: Growth Strategy, M&A, Business Model Innovation, and Social Media Strategy.

The SC role develops insight into to functional and industry trends and presents compelling points of view on future directions. Experiences may include defining enterprise, theater, and/or local growth opportunities; defining channel economics and structures; and designing offering, channel, and alliance strategies. Opportunities may also include M&A and business development - defining the inorganic growth path in complementary and adjacent markets.

The Business Strategy Consultant is part of a broader Strategy and Transformation team.

IBMs Strategy and Transformation practice draws upon the broad capabilities of IBM Global Business Services to help top-tier clients solve their most complex business and technical issues. Strategy and Transformation teams develop and articulate deep insights, deliver innovative business consulting, and help executives understand the organizational implications of change. In turn, this work is integrated with teams performing business process design, systems integration, and application design and management for leading commercial and public sector organizations in 17 industries worldwide.

* Bachelor's Degree
* At least 2 years experience in industry knowledge in one of the Industrial Sector areas:(Chem/Petro, Automotive, Industrial Products, Electronics, or Aerospace
* At least 4 years experience in hypothesis-based analytical thinking; developing and structuring quantitative model, structure ambiguous request and source information creatively
* At least 4 years experience in defining growth channels and strategies including, M and A, business development, and/or offering/solution design
* At least 4 years experience in Business Model Innovation
* At least 3 years experience in defining/refining actionable roadmaps to deliver organizational change
* At least 3 years experience in Excel and other modeling tools
* At least 3 years experience in delivery and management of business strategy consulting engagements (with consultant teams of 3 or more) - with a consulting firm or professional services organization
* Readiness to travel Up to 4 days a week (home on weekends-based on project requirements)
* English: Basic knowledge

Preferred

* Master's Degree
* At least 6 years experience in industry knowledge in one of the Industrial Sector areas:(Chem/Petro, Automotive, Industrial Products, Electronics, or Aerospace
