Job Summary

Global Network Services (GNS), a department of Nokia Cloud Computing Operations & Delivery, is responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, and operations of a massively scalable service infrastructure with world class availability, quality, reliability and efficiency, which serves hundreds of millions of consumers in markets around the globe.

The operations arm of GNS - Global Network Operations (GNO) - is seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join us as a Senior Network Operations Engineer. GNO is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of the security, availability, and performance of large-scale networking infrastructure within our data centers worldwide.

This role is ideal for a creative and quality-focused network professional who wishes to immerse themselves into the commercial dynamics of one of the top brands worldwide. A GNO engineers efforts will be invested in maintaining the uptime targets and performance SLAs through the design, implementation, and improvement of network configurations in support of business requirements. The successful candidate possesses excellent research, design, planning, and organizational skills.

Requirements

A successful candidate for this job will have extensive experience in datacenter LAN implementation, operations and support, including expertise in layered network architecture, system design, intra- and inter-domain routing protocols, ancillary network services operations, and security design. At least three years experience in large-scale service provider network operations required; network industry certifications preferred (especially Juniper JunOS, F5, Cisco).

Responsibilities
* Set up, maintain and administer network routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, terminal servers, and other network elements, including devices installed in remote " lights out " data centers.
* Support the proper functioning of the network through strong knowledge of L2, L3, TCP/UDP, IPSEC, e|iBGP, MPLS, OSPF, HSRP, GRE, MSTP.
* Respond to internal customers queries and satisfy requests for support/changes on systems whilst ensuring that support tickets are assigned, worked, documented, and closed in a timely fashion.
* Ensure that incidents are investigated, diagnosed, and resolved with priority.
* Create, modify, and troubleshoot firewall (Juniper ScreenOS AND JunOS platforms) and load balancer (F5, A10) configurations.
* Practice strict adherence to change management process and required documentation standards
* Plan and direct Remote Hands and Eyes to perform physical network and device installation and connection in remote data centers
* Create, monitor, update, and correct documentation regarding current environment and configuration elements
* Devise, develop, document, test, and implement production changes, utilizing accepted standards and creative solutions
* Use and tune network management tools to increase visibility, improve incident response and diagnostics, reduce MTTR, and proactively identify capacity or configuration issues (knowledge of Entuity, Nagios, Zabbix, Cacti, Splunk, SyslogNG, and similar tools recommended)
* Continuous Service Improvement - identify and propose creative solutions for more efficient systems and processes to provide more reliable or effective support.
* Identify and assess suboptimal configurations or conditions discovered in the course of normal business; own the prioritization, development, and implementation of fixes for same.
* Interface with stakeholders in business units, architects, and other operational support engineers/teams to understand and define requirements, communicate progress, and validate implemented configurations.
* Provide technical advice and expertise to management, customers, and colleagues
* Working outside of normal business hours to accommodate risky maintenance during periods of low impact, or to satisfy requests under tight timetables. This includes rare weekend work.
* Participate in on-call rotation of peers as first-responder for off-hours incidents, usually no more often than one week per month.
