Job Description

* Performs all duties described for Utility Worker II
* Functions as lead for Utility Workers in all aspects of the operation of the water supply and distribution systems, wastewater collection and pumping systems.
* Resolves escalated customer complaints and responds to complex customer questions.
* Familiar with all aspects of field activities.
* Familiar with all aspects of the water supply and wastewater collection systems.
* Completes forms, records and other associated paperwork, manages work orders.
* Plans and sets up work and delegates tasks to others; provides training and lead direction to crews; sets priorities and meets deadlines; operates heavy equipment.
* Works independently under general supervision of Superintendent or Utility Manager where no Superintendent exists.
* Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills

* High school diploma or equivalent required
* Four (4) years as a Utility Worker in the water industry and/or wastewater industry
* Good communication skills required including demonstrated fluency with reading, writing and speaking the English language. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel shall be attained within 12 months of filling this position.
* Must possess and maintain a valid Drivers License issued by the state where employed.
* Applicable commercial Drivers License issued by the state where employed may be required
* Must possess and keep current the appropriate water and/or wastewater operator certification for this Position as required by the state where employed.
* Backflow Device Tester and Repair Certification issued by the state where employed is required within 18 months.
* South Carolina distribution system and voluntary collections system licenses required within 18 months of hire.
* Must have or obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within a year of hire.
* Must take and pass Federal OSHA and or State Mandated Safety training with annual refresher courses as required by the associated regulations for this Position. Such training will be provided by company and compliance is mandatory.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS MAY INCLUDE:
* Work in Confined Spaces
* Work in areas exposed to noise and chemicals
* Work in extreme weather conditions
* Lift and carry loads up to 50 lbs
* Climb inspection ladders and perform work up to the limits of elevated water storage tanks.
