Overview of Position:
The Clinical Education Coordinator provides for the overall coordination, development, and implementation of patient and staff education to promote, improve, and maintain the quality of patient care in accordance with the philosophy, mission, and vision of CRH. Facilitates ongoing development and implementation of competency based clinical orientation programs, continuing educational programs such as American Heart Association courses (BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP), and patient education programs including the Diabetic Self Management Program (DSMP), Oversees the coordination of CRH's clinical site designation with colleges and universities. Develops and maintains the online Lipponcott Nursing Procedure Manual.
Collaborates with hospital managers and staff to assess learning needs and competency gaps.
Develops implements and evaluates educational plans/programs.
Facilitates a variety of learning experiences using a range of instructional methods.
Participates in the organization's compliance with mandatory training requirements.
Utilizes methods, measurements, and tools to evaluate achievement of learning goals.
Serves as a consultant for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development.
Participates in the coordination and continuity of orientation programs.
Serves as an active member of committees focused on such areas as safety, infection control, and staff competency.
Demonstrates strong knowledge of standards and regulations related to staff development and patient education.
Researches and recommends the purchase of educational materials and equipment.
Collaborates in a positive manner with physicians, nursing, other health care professionals and clerical staff as indicated regarding patient care and quality of care issues and communications, team building and change theory.
Coordinates and/or collaborates with external learning institutions as they utilize the hospital as a clinical teaching site.
Is actively involved in organization wide activities, committees, task forces and special projects in an effective and positive manner to enhance the care of patients and to promote the care process as best practice
Functions as internal consultant and change agent in organizational activities by functioning as a mentor and coach with others in the education process.
Qualifications:
Required Job Qualifications Include:
Current Virginialicensure as an RN.
BSN required; Master's Degree in Nursing preferred or in the process of obtaining within 3-5 years.
Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience.
Previous instruction experience required.
Competency in utilizing computer programs for developing instructional materials, tracking related data and communicating information.
BLS Healthcare Instructor preferred
Able to speak, read and understand English fluently.
Excellent communicator with engaging and effective presentation abilities.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
