Adirondack Health is seeking a qualified HIM Clerical/Transcription Supervisor to provide leadership to its Health Information Management Department. Under the direct supervision of the Director of HIM, the HIM Clerical Supervisor assists the HIM Director with planning, organizing and overseeing the daily functions of the clerical and transcription areas of the HIM Department.
The HIM Clerical Supervisor is responsible for the daily workflow in the HIM Department, including oversight of the legal electronic and paper medical record, qualitative and quantitative review of medical record information, release of information, storage, retrieval, transcription processes. Incomplete medical record control, and inpatient and outpatient DNFB exception reports. Thorough knowledge of state and federal release of information requirements, regulatory and accrediting agency standards (DOH, TJC, HFAP, CMS, human resource management, fiscal management, and HIM revenue cycle management, knowledge and effective use of HIM information systems (Meditech preferred), and HIM process redesign are required.
Additional Requirements:
Associate or Bachelor Degree in Health Information Technology/Administration (RHIT required RHIA preferred)
2 years of experience in a HIM department with staff supervision responsibilities
Excellent communication (written and verbal), customer service and organizational skills.
Proven ability to motivate staff to maintain a high functioning HIM Department.
Experience working in a Union environment is preferred.
