Aurora Flight Sciences is seeking an experienced Lead Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing team. This position requires an action and results oriented individual who can effectively lead a team to achieve demanding development and production goals. This individual must also be able to interact and communicate at all levels of the organization and with the customer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Lead Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the leadership, technical mentoring, and tasking of site manufacturing engineers in production of aerospace composite structure fabrication and assemblies. This is a working lead position who will by example produce quality products that meet or exceed our customer ’ s requirements. Also responsible to coordinate manufacturing engineering activities with the site General Manager, program managers, and other functional leaders to assure that the total effort is directed toward optimizing the quality and cost effectiveness to meet the facilities goals and objectives. Also, requisition tooling and equipment to ensure an efficient manufacturing operation, and that shop equipment and tooling is maintained as required. The lead will keep abreast of industry technical changes and make recommendations for training of the team.
Assignments and tasking includes:

Interpretation of engineering requirements and documentation; locates and applies relevant command for production.

Definition of manufacturing/assembly processes and flows, manufacturing plans, and risk mitigation for special process or developmental items.

Generation of work instructions and Bill of Materials (BOMs) in compliance with quality and inspection requirements.
*
Develops process specifications
*
Creation of assembly / test concepts, inspection check lists, first article inspections.
*
Performs and executes failure analysis root cause and corrective action for production issues.
*
Develops solutions for repair or rework for nonconformance.
*
Generate project schedules and develop metrics to manage team earned value against program objectives.
*
Reports recurring team and individual project activity.
*
Implement lean concepts for achievement of learning and efficiency.
*
Develops technical training.
*
Ensures individual development through performance management processes
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Strong ability to interface with multiple disciplines to achieve common strategy and priority of deliverables - Interpreting engineering requirements and documentation - Defining and implementing manufacturing/assembly processes and flows, creating and employing assembly tools and test aids - Creating and releasing manufacturing plans; developing routers, data collections, assembly instructions, attachments and releases of technical content; creating rework routers. Utilizing Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Project, Visio). Ability to forecast and meet deadlines - Ability to work successfully in a dynamic environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and proven organizational skills. Knowledge of Visual / MRP Systems.

Bachelors degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics
*
5 years of experience associated with composite manufacturing and assembly processes.
*
Experience with direct supervision, leading a team of 5 or more subordinates.
*
Strong PC skills using Microsoft Office Suite.
*
Experience working with CAD systems.
*
Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Process Improvement methods.
*
Experience utilizing ERP/MRP planning systems and bill of material development for process planning.
*
Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint , and Project Scheduling
*
CATIA V5 or Solid Works Tool Design Experience desirable.
*
Visual Enterprise Experience desirable.
*
Experience with Government and Aerospace specifications desirable.
*
MRB experience desirable.
MUST be a US Person or Permanent Resident Green Card Holder.
