Description JOB SUMMARY
Performs advanced engineering tasks or other special projects requiring original concepts and a high level of experience and expertise necessary for the operation of the digital video platforms. Works independently, performs engineering tasks with little or no precedence, acts as a consultant to supervisor/management. Has a management skill for facilitation of team actions for problem solving including conflict resolution to assure progress. May represent the organization in outside discussions and technical forums. Generally works with wide latitude for autonomous action or decision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
. Contribute to the Company vision of being the industry leader in customer service through quality, commitment, courtesy and teamwork
. Works with multi-disciplined team members related to design, integration, deployment and maintenance of the digital video platform
. Contribute to the technical understanding and promotion of new and existing and business requirements, solutions and tools with respect to digital video delivery systems
. Understanding product development cycle and practices with hands-on experience in building and verifying designs
. Performs design related to products and systems including development of new products or updates to existing products
. Coordinates with equipment vendors to ensure hardware and software meet requirements for testing and deployment
. Review and modify vendor design and architecture to ensure digital video systems meet technical and business requirements.
. Provides clear and concise recommendations and guidance, both written and verbal, to business and technology personnel
. Performs other duties as requested by supervisor
Qualifications - BA Degree in Engineering or related technical experience.
Min. 7-10 years direct working knowledge in the following;
- Motorola DAC and NAS digital headend equipment experience.
- Working knowledge of CPE, including digital set-tops middleware and applications
- Advanced working knowledge and understanding of Data Communications networks and IP networking to include: Routing and Switching protocols, OSPF, EIGRP, ISIS, TCP/IP protocols, SNMP, ARP.
- SNMP and element management systems, and UNIX.
- Digital video service offerings (VOD, iTV, HDTV, DVR).
- Knowledge of Analog (RF) and Digital Video signals (MPEG and AC-3).
Must have prior Telecommunications Network and Digital Video and Video-on-Demand system operation work experience.
Preferred knowledge;
Knowledge of IP routing, Ethernet and Transport protocols
Knowledge of interactive video systems including applications such as VOD.
Knowledge of digital program insertion systems
Knowledge of data and voice communications networks
Knowledge of Network Security
Certifications and/or Licenses
Technical certification course
