Job OverviewWe are growing the team to enable overlapping development cycles which is creating a number of growth opportunities. This is a leadership position in the development of Qualcomm's next generation CPU design. Join a world-class team of CPU designers, architects and circuit designers to develop advanced from-scratch CPU microarchitectures for ARM ISA-based compute class devices.

Responsibilities:

Define power, performance & area requirements for next-generation CPU cores; identify best-in-class techniques for obtaining both single-CPU performance targets and aggregate SOC performance targets; drive requirements for CPU performance modeling; keep up-to-date on activities in computer architecture community; work closely with a team of highly-motivated CPU designers to implement the design; present architecture & design tradeoffs to executives and customers

Minimum QualificationsCandidate must have at least 15 years of experience with the following:

- Architectural and microarchitectural definition and implementation of high-performance microprocessors

- Led the development of at least one RISC or x86 microarchitecture design conception through production

- Defined and/or built CPU performance models; led team to explore trade-offs for performance, power, and area

Experience with several of the following is required: design of cache-coherent multi-core interconnect, multi-level caches, memory management, superscalar out-of-order pipelines, register file management, interrupt processing, and advanced clock and power management techniques

Preferred QualificationsExperience with the following areas considered a plus: ARM architecture and system architecture, hardware virtualization, security architecture, weakly-ordered memory models, HLOS requirements & functionality, high-performance & low-power circuit design techniques & tradeoffs, low-level debug and trace mechanisms Ability to communicate well both in writing and in active presentation is preferred.

Education RequirementsRequired: Bachelor's, Computer Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering
