Part Time 20 hours Grade 077 Otolaryngology Faculty/Admin
Performs research laboratory assignments, various and diversified in nature, in accordance with standard practices and procedures.
Conduct Experiments: Schedules and conducts motion and perceptual experiments involving human subjects with balance disorders as well as normal controls. Recruits subjects for participation in studies as well as obtaining informed consent.
Setup New Experiments: Implements new experimental designs. Works closely with engineering students interested in doing projects in the lab.
Data Analysis: Performs data analysis and interpretation of results. Produces spreadsheets and plots to summarize data. Archives the data.
Laboratory Maintenance Duties: Assists with maintaining quality controls associates with lab apparatus. Assists with identifying needed lab supplies. Assists with service support of maintenance of lab equipment. Assists with monitoring computer based inventories and databases.
Associates degree in appropriate discipline with 2-3 years specialized experience in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred qualifications: Candidate must be organized and familiar with HIPAA regulations. Must be certified to conduct human experiments or become certified from the University of Rochester Research Science Review Board (RSRB). Must exercise skill, judgment, and knowledge of or have the ability to quickly learn the principles and methods of a technical field. Excellent communication skills required. Attention to detail and meticulous ability to maintain records is essential. Should be familiar with Microsoft Office as well as MatLab. Engineering or technical background and programming experience in C++ and/or MatLab are highly desirable.
