**Faculty Position Description**
We are currently seeking to fill a faculty position in the Division of General Pediatrics at the Golisano Childrens Hospital of the University of Rochester. This is a vibrant multidisciplinary division with approximately 86 faculty and staff that participate in active clinical and research programs focusing on improving child health in the local community and beyond. Our pediatric practice is Rochesters largest pediatric clinic, serving over 12, 000 children in the greater Rochester area. We pride ourselves on not just being recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as a Certified Patient-Centered Medical Home, but helping to translate the principles into practice each day.
*The Pediatric Practice is where our missions of caring, discovery, teaching and learning become a reality. We care for a diverse population of 12, 000 children with complex medical and psychosocial challenges accounting for 26, 400 visits per year. We work closely with professionals from nursing, mental health, social work, and a variety of other fields. *This position includes participation in clinical service, primarily involving patient care in the outpatient clinic setting. Clinical activities include:
* Serving as lead physician for one of our 4 continuity clinical teams.
* Working with our clinical team and providing direct patient care services with skills that are clinically sound, effective and achieve exceptional patient outcomes.
* Precepting resident providers in the clinic setting.
* Monitoring appropriateness of therapeutic management and care.
* Integrating innovative approaches to patient care.
The Division of General Pediatrics is a premier center for pediatric health services research, with a focus on improving health-care delivery and health outcomes for vulnerable children and youth.
Division faculty are expected to contribute to the academic mission of the division through participation in scholarly activities that may include: research publications, publications of clinical observations, reviews, chapters or books; participation in clinical trials, and/or clinical investigations; academic presentations, and review of manuscripts or grants. Funds may be available to protect time for up to three years to allow the candidate to design and conduct clinical research and develop research programs on various areas of clinical specialty.
We provide outstanding training to house staff, fellows, and medical students in our ambulatory clinical setting. We also have a long-standing and highly successful fellowship program for General Academic Pediatrics and an award winning house staff training program in community pediatrics and child advocacy.
Division faculty are expected to contribute to the education of trainees. Duties may include:
* Teaching and supervising the patient care of assigned medical students, residents and fellows.
* Advising trainees in programmatic and project activities.
* Participating in local and regional educational opportunities.
* Participating in the development or direction of educational programs, curricular offerings and teaching materials.
* Participating in curriculum committees or other education related committees. Serve as a role model within the department in mentoring students and trainees.
All faculty are expected to maintain currency in field through continuing education, literature and seminars. Additionally, faculty may take a role in the development of divisional or departmental policies, procedures and standards. On occasion, faculty may be assigned to divisional, departmental, or faculty committees. Participation in local or regional clinical affairs through membership in clinical societies or specialty governing boards is encouraged.
This position requires completion of a Pediatric Residency. Many applicants will also have completed fellowship training in Academic General Pediatrics.

MD or DO and current active license issued by the State of New York.
