The Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of Rochester is seeking highly qualified applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level with an emphasis on research and education. Emphasis will be placed on, but not limited to, applicants pursuing research in neuropharmacology or cardiovascular pharmacology with a focus on mechanisms of receptor action and cellular signaling pathways. The successful applicant will receive a highly competitive start-up package and be expected to develop an independent, externally funded research program and contribute to graduate- and medical school teaching. The Department of Pharmacology and Physiology offers an outstanding research environment with established strengths in mechanistic studies related to G protein-coupled receptors, extracellular matrix, calcium and ion channel signaling, in the context of physiology and disease. The department is in the midst of a significant recruiting effort with several open positions in these areas over the next four years. The University of Rochester Medical Center and the adjacent Schools of Arts, Sciences and Engineering are part of a world-class life sciences research campus, providing excellent opportunities for multiple cross-disciplinary interactions and collaborations.
Candidates must hold a PhD, MD or equivalent, have demonstrated significant research achievement, and have either received or exhibit clear potential to attract extramural funding for their research program. The successful candidate should have a strong commitment to the research and educational missions of the Department, excellent communication skills and an enthusiastic approach to collaborative research efforts.
