**Advertised Summary Job Description**

Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Technician B will be responsible for carrying out fully planned experiments to study the mechanisms underlying spinal muscular atrophy. The incumbent will use conventional biochemical and molecular biological methods, including molecular cloning, protein purification, maintenance of mammalian cell lines, DNA transfection and manipulation and mouse anatomical studies. Duties will include keeping records of experimental results and providing experimental support for ongoing projects. The incumbent will also be responsible for maintaining laboratory supplies, preparing solutions and performing other related duties necessary to the functioning of the research project.

**Minimum Qualifications for Grade**

Requires a bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Applicant must satisfactorily complete drug screen and background check.

**Essential Functions**

-Responsible for carrying out fully planned experiments to understand the molecular mechanisms of spinal muscular atrophy, 60%

-Preparing solutions and performing other related duties necessary to the functioning of the research project, 10%

-Keeping records of experiment results, 10%

-Assisting in the management of laboratory equipment and supplies, 20%
