**Advertised Summary Job Description**

The Department of Biomedical Informatics at Columbia University has immediate opening for a part-time bilingual (English/Spanish) Research Coordinator. The desired candidate should have a strong background in patient recruitment and enrollment to assist in a randomized controlled trial that is part of a federally-funded research project evaluating patient engagement in the inpatient care setting. The candidate will work closely with the Research Coordinator and the rest of the study team to ensure the effective completion of the research study.

The candidate will report directly to the Principal Investigator of this study. The candidate will support the day-to-day operations of the study, which include but are not limited to: (1) recruitment activities; screening and recruiting of eligible participants in the study, (2) organizing and participating in weekly research meetings, (3) communicating with development team, programmers, recruiters, and key stakeholders to assess study needs and translate into project implementation (4) submitting and maintaining regulatory documents for IRB approval, (5) collecting data for tracking and evaluation activities and coordinating data management/analysis. S/he will perform other related duties as assigned.

The candidate must be willing to work evenings and weekends if necessary.

This is a grant-funded position and will end with the conclusion of the grant (5/31/2017).

**Minimum Qualifications for Grade**

**Applicant** **MUST** **meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant**

Bachelor's degree in health sciences plus three (3) years of experience. Must have experience working in healthcare organizations. S/he must be willing to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends.

The incumbent interacts with members of the team, including working under the direction of Principal Investigator.

Attention to detail and responsive to deadlines.

Must be bi-lingual (English/Spanish).

The candidate must also be proficient with various office software including MS Office Software, search engines, and literary databases. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and get along with fellow staff.

**Essential Functions**

Responsibilities include: recruitment activities; screening and recruiting of eligible participants (80%), data maintenance (10%), organizing and participating in weekly meetings (5%).
