**Advertised Summary Job Description**

Reporting to the Director of HPC Resources, the incumbent will assist in basic programming related to Mailman School of Public Health High Performance Computing (HPC).

Responsibilities will include:

Assist in designing and developing software programs and applications with a focus on best practice for HPC environment.

Modify existing software to correct errors, to adopt it to the cluster environment.

Evaluate and optimize existing software to improve the performance.

Provide hands-on support in software maintenance and code reviewing.

Work closely with Mailman HPC users to identify programming needs and answer programming related questions.

**Minimum Qualifications for Grade**

**Applicant** **MUST** **meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant**

Bachelors Degree or the equivalent in education, training and experience.

Experience working on Unix operating system

Experience with Unix bash shell scripting

Experience with code writing and debugging in statistical analysis tools (Matlab, R)

Experience with cluster resource managers and schedulers (preferably SGE job scheduler)

Understanding of Parallel programming in a High Performance Computing
