Provide patient care services for our Ophthalmology service.
Participates in ophthalmic consult service. Clinically manages patients in the inpatient facility and emergency department, ensures 24/7 consult coverage, creates, distributes, and participates in consult coverage schedule including night and weekend rotations, ensures ED referrals are tracked and patients appropriately follow-up in outpatient clinic; ensures equipment is maintained.
Educates patients regarding their conditions and treatments.
Assists with clinical responsibilities and inpatient follow up during general outpatient clinic session under the supervision of an attending physician
Interprets incoming lab results and radiological studies; instructs patients regarding medication administration and dosage and monitors patient responses to medications; prepares and review patient medical records; participates in educational initiatives
Provides surgical assist in Operating Room for ophthalmic cases as needed.
Functions as an integral part of a clinical research team which may include study subject recruitment and research-specific clinical exams. Opportunities for further involvement for interested candidates.
Manages telephone inquiries and urgent clinical issues arising in patients under the supervision of an attending physician.
Stays current in field; participates in relevant multidisciplinary clinical conferences and CME courses
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Current New York State license
BCLS and ACLS
Graduate of an accredited PA program
Current NCCPA certification
**Highly Desired Requirements**
Ophthalmic surgical experience
Two-years work experience in clinical setting.
