**Advertised Summary Job Description**

Under the supervision of the Director of the Myeloma and Amyloidosis Program the Physician Assistant (PA) will be responsible for the assessment and management of outpatients primarily with plasma cell dyscrasias.

PA will assess and examine patients, review the laboratory test results, and discuss the management with attending physician. S/he will assist physicians with related duties as directed and perform other tasks as assigned. In addition, the PA will obtain consents, monitor pre and post procedure status of patients; develop care plans for patients; document history, orders, notes and ongoing evaluation of patients; assure quality of care and standards are maintained; and serve as liaison to referring physicians and external transfers. The successful candidate will also provide cross coverage for the outpatient BMT program as needed.

**Minimum Qualifications for Grade**

**Applicant** **MUST** **meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant**

Must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program from a recognized college or university. Current New York Physician Assistant license, BCLS and ACLS certification required.

Demonstrate leadership ability to manage patients and interact effectively with peers and physicians.

**Special Instructions**

**Preferred Qualifications**

Experience in hematology and onclology BMT strongly preferred; experience with Columbia University and NYP systems and procedures preferred.
