The Department of Medicine at the Columbia University Medical Center is looking for a Director of Information Technology. The Department of Medicine is the largest department in the School of Medicine, with a large number of clinical and research systems, and a substantial number of users on the Medical Center domain.

We are looking for a seasoned technology professional with proven track record, to help manage our current systems, and direct the future growth of the IT infrastructure of the Department to join us in the capacity of Director-Information Technology. The Director-IT will collaborate with a number of affiliated institutions and organizations in the CUMC/New York Presbyterian Hospital (NYP) environment.

**Minimum Qualifications for Grade**

**Applicant** **MUST** **meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant**

Masters' Degree or higher in relevant domains such as Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Information Systems (CIS), IT Management and Project Management, or Informatics. Five years of active management experience in leading a team of technology professionals with at least two years of experience in a health care or medical education setting

Knowledge and Expertise:

? Strong healthcare IT and analytics background

? Strong background in data aggregation, clinical data warehouse design, development of interface standards in healthcare institutions.

? Demonstrated skill and effectiveness in designing systems for data analytics for higher level management decision making.

? Experience in working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment.

? Experience in project management including the ability to define objectives, identify stakeholders, plan and coordinate to accomplish goals and objectives in a resourceful and timely manner.

? Superior leadership qualities on? meeting deadlines, motivating and mentoring team, and effective decision making

**Preferred Qualifications**

**Essential Functions**

The Director-IT job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

? Take responsibility for all of the clinical and research systems, analytics, IT security and risk mitigation efforts in the department

? Provide oversight for the Corrective Action Plan (CAP) project in the department

? Liaison for the Department to Clinical Records On-Line Web Network (CROWN) and the Electronic Health Records (HER) service

? Participate in all relevant leadership committees and meetings related to CAP, CROWN and other institutional IT initiatives and efforts

? Provide leadership for system and procedural standardization. Evaluate current and future systems from the perspective of consolidation.

? Plan for projects for implementing interfaces to and from various source systems for clinical and research requirements.

? Identify and manage the systems used by the department to support reporting, and integrate these efforts with other departmental, Faculty Practice Organization (FPO), CUMC, and NYP efforts.

? Oversee implementation and ongoing support for the department's management systems.

? Conceive high level plans for supporting and maintenance of endpoints and systems.

? Maintain the department's network architecture blueprint.

? Nurture and grow the collaborative relationships with the department's faculty and staff, and other IT groups in affiliated institutions.

? Develop long-term technology strategy to support the growth of the information and analytics needs of the department.

? Represent the department on the FPO Clinical System Optimization Committee.
