The College of Physicians and Surgeons is a located on the 20-acre campus of Columbia University Medical Center which is situated in the Washington Heights community of northern Manhattan. With a budget of $1. 5B, the College of Physicians and Surgeons employs more than 6, 000 faculty and staff who provide world-class leadership in scientific research, medical education and patient care.

Reporting to the Vice Dean of Administration, the Director of Business Process Improvement will work collaboratively with departments to analyze current business processes and identify opportunities to increase operational efficiencies and quality of service. He/she will identify best practices within P & S vis--vis other academic institutions and share them with P & S Departments. He/she will obtain a thorough knowledge of Columbia's financial systems and reports and be able to use the reports to produce in-depth analysis of programs, services and service areas. He/she will convert financial and statistical data to information that will be pivotal in identifying opportunities within P&S. He/she will share the findings with CUMC Administration and P& S Departments and recommend changes. He/she will monitor and assist in change implementation within P & S and provide interim coverage and support within departments, as needed.

**Minimum Qualifications for Grade**

**Applicant** **MUST** **meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant**

MBA or comparable advanced degree, as well as 7 years of progressively comprehensive responsible experience in large complex academic medicine organizations. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a well developed aptitude for quantitative analysis capable of working with minimal oversight to solve problems or complete projects. Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must. He/she will also have demonstrated ability to translate business managers' need for information into useful reports. Strong computer proficiency (Microsoft Excel and Word). Attention to detail, plus the ability to work closely and effectively with a diverse group of senior administrators, essential.
