Process Development at MassBiologics is split into three key functional areas: Upstream, Downstream, and Analytical Development. Downstream Process Development activities encompass cell clarification, column chromatography, virus filtration and UFDF at scales ranging from milligrams to kilograms of protein. We are seeking highly motivated individuals to join our interactive team of talented and intellectually diverse researchers and engineers in a world-class, highly collaborative research environment in Boston, MA. The candidate will provide technical leadership during the development, and subsequent manufacture, of protein-based therapeutics for a variety of disease targets. The Associate Director of Process Development will lead process development activities in one the following key functional areas of biologics process development: Upstream, Downstream, or Assay Development.
Under the general direction of the Deputy Director or designee, the Associate Director of Process Developments responsibilities will include:
+ Leading a team of scientists and research associates and participating in the design of experiments, executing planned experiments, and optimizing the process/analytical tools as necessary.
+ Leading the design and execution of development studies to establish critical parameters and ranges
+ Working as part of a cross-functional team between Manufacturing, Quality Control, and Product Discovery departments
+ Writing and reviewing protocols, technical reports, memos, and regulatory documents to summarize experiments and investigations
+ Investigate future process technologies and improve platform robustness
+ Working effectively in a team environment and managing the team effectively in order to meet project timelines and objectives.
+ Requires a PhD in a relevant scientific discipline such as Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or other relevant field or equivalent experience.
+ A minimum of 5 years of industry experience.
+ Demonstrated potential for technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others, and independent thought. Solid knowledge on scientific principles and concepts.
+ Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with others internally (up, down, and laterally) and externally to the organization.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines.
+ Possesses strong attention to detail, ability to maintain accurate records and excellent proofreading skills
+ Excellent problem solving skills as well as time management and organizational skills.
+ Proven ability to manage others, assign and schedule work, and conduct performance evaluations.
+ Able to travel as needed
+ Previous experience in a cGMP environment
+ Experience with Design of Experiment (DOE) software
