The Informatics Program (http://informatics. usc. edu) at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering (http://viterbi. usc. edu) seeks candidates for teaching positions (Lecturer) to teach graduate courses in the area of Cyber Security to support a newly formed Master program. These are full time, benefits eligible faculty positions on the non-tenure track. Competitive candidates will have the training and experience necessary to teach effectively in a highly-ranked Computer Science department that advances graduate students enrolled in the MS program. Candidates will have a background (or specific interest) in one or more of the following areas:
* Hardened platforms
* High assurance software engineering
* Formal methods for program specification and verification
* Secure network technologies
* Authentication methods and tools
* Computer network operations topics
* Cryptographic methods, theory and tools
* Secure operating systems and security kernels
* Modern computer architectures
* Secure processor technologies, including instruction set architecture based on hardware segmentation and protection rings
* Information security policies and criteria development
* Digital and network forensics
* Assessment and formal evaluation
* Trusted systems and standards
* Privacy Technologies
* Proven verifiable protection of truly trustworthy high assurance security designed to substantially address the problems of adversarial attacks that include software and hardware subversion
* Other relevant topics.
These are primarily teaching positions; all candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to teaching. Lecturers will spend the majority of their time on teaching and teaching-related duties with reduced obligation for research and University service. Industry experience in one or more of the stated areas is preferred. Qualified candidates preferably will have a Ph. D. degree (or equivalent) but minimally must have an M. S. or higher degree in a related field by the date of the appointment. Successful candidates will have the ability to acquire a US government clearance. Salary and benefits are competitive. While we seek applications at the level of Lecturer, qualified candidates with substantial teaching experience or relevant background may also be considered for a commensurate higher-ranked position (e. g. , Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor of Engineering Practice, or Professor of Engineering Practice).
