The School of Social Work at the University of Southern California invites applications for experienced instructors needed for specified topics of interest to Los Angeles Countys Department of Children and Family Services (LA-DCFS) line staff, supervisors and managers who currently hold an LCSW or MFT license or are interested in obtaining licensure. Subject areas currently offered include:
Aging and Long Term Care (10 hours)
Conducting Effective Clinical Supervision (15 hours)
Clinical Supervision Update (6 hours)
DSM5 (12 hours)
HIV/AIDS (7 hours)
Human Sexuality (10 hours)
Intimate Partner Violence (15 hours)
Legal and Ethical Issues (6 hours)
Personality Disorders (6 hours)
Prenatal Alcohol Exposure (6 hours)
Substance Abuse for Clinical Licensure (15 hours)
Understanding Psychopharmacology (6 hours)
Most of the courses listed will be presented twice a year. Please consult the Board of Behavioral Science website for specific regulations regarding required courses for licensure as well as specific continuing education courses. http://www. bbs. ca. gov/pdf/publications/lawsregs. pdf.
Clinical and/or instructional expertise in a specific subject area preferred. LCSW and/or MFT license required. Familiarity with the mission, strategic plan, and core practice model of LA-DCFS, an interactive and engaging teaching style, and an appreciation for the workplace demands on LA-DCFS staff are essential.
