The Department of Anesthesiology at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles is actively seeking to add
a BE/BC Pediatric Palliative Care Physician to join our growing Comfort and Palliative Care Division.
Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is a non-profit, freestanding, academic pediatric medical center with a full scope of pediatric specialty services located on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. CHLA treats over 93, 000 children annually, many with complex medical conditions, and trains hundreds of medical students, residents, fellows, nurses, and respiratory therapists each year. The hospitals Saban Research Institute is among the largest and most productive pediatric research centers in the Western United States.
The Comfort and Palliative Care Program provides clinical services to patients, their families, and the medical staff. We work as an interdisciplinary team with the goal to relieve suffering and improve quality of life for patients with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses.
The ideal candidate is passionate about palliative care, enjoys working within an interdisciplinary team, and can work collaboratively with referring providers. The candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, expertise in pain and symptom management, and should be comfortable providing end-of-life care for patients with complex medical conditions. Responsibilities include providing palliative medicine consultation and ongoing care within the hospital and ambulatory settings, facilitating family meetings, and communicating with primary medical teams. The physician will be expected to participate in educational activities with medical students, residents and fellows. The physician will also participate as faculty for a planned Pediatric Palliative Care Fellowship to be offered by the program. Abundant research opportunities are also available.

* BC/BE in Hospice and Palliative Medicine or two or more years of Pediatric Palliative Care Experience
* Primary board certification in Pediatrics or Anesthesiology (with Pediatric training).
* Board certification in Family Medicine will also be considered with documentation of pediatric palliative care experience
* Licensed (or eligible for medical licensure) in the State of California
* Willing to provide patient care, supervise non-physician team members, participate in program development activities, and engage in teaching, mentorship, and research activities
Academic rank will be commensurate with training and experience. Applications are being sought at the assistant professor level. All positions require a California Medical License; graduation from an ACGME approved residency program, certification by the American Board of Pediatrics or American Board of Family Medicine or the American Board of Anesthesiology, and the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment.
