The Childrens Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases (CCCBD) at the Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) and the Division of Hematology, Oncology and Blood and Marrow Transplantation within the Department of Pediatrics, Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California (USC) is recruiting a junior faculty member to join the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center, one of the largest programs of its kind in the country. The program cares for over 800 patients with bleeding disorders and sees about 150 new thrombosis patients per year. This individual will be involved in the Centers clinical care, education, and clinical research activities. He/She will closely participate in the Programs various research activities and is expected to develop their own investigator-initiated research program. He/She will hold an academic appointment through USC Keck School of Medicine at the level of Assistant Professor level.
For the 3rd year in a row, the CCCBD was rated in the top 5 pediatric cancer programs and CHLA as the 5th ranked childrens hospital in the 2014 U. S. News & World Report rankings. The CCCBD cares for more than 1, 000 newly diagnosed patients with cancer and blood disorders and approximately 25, 000 outpatient visits annually, and has a large Clinical Trials Operation that supports active clinical trials programs in hematology, oncology and BMT. The Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center is an internationally-recognized program involved in cutting edge patient care and research.
CHLA is one of the countrys premier pediatric teaching hospitals and has been affiliated with the Keck School of Medicine of USC since 1932. CHLA continues to build on its partnership with USC, which is the oldest private research university in the Western United States. USC has steadily enhanced its academic excellence and reputation over the past two decades; it recently ranked 23rd among public and private universities in the nation, according to the 2014 U. S. News & World Report rankings.
