Physician Scientist Assistant/Associate Professor
The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California is recruiting for a full-time board certified/board eligible Radiation Oncology Physician Scientist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level (tenure track). The Physician Scientist candidate must be highly motivated in pursuing an academic career in Radiation Oncology as a translational researcher. Responsibilities will include a significant amount of time dedicated to laboratory research with protected time to do so. There will be minor component devoted to patient care and teaching radiobiology.
The Radiation Oncology program consists of facilities at the USC/Norris Cancer Center, the Los Angeles County + University of Southern California (LAC+USC) Medical Center and the USC University Hospital. The Department is affiliated with the USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. The program is an affiliate member of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group, and also participates in trials sponsored by the South West Oncology Group and the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project Group, and Gynecology Oncology Group.
The Department of Radiation Oncology is primarily housed in two facilities: in the recently built LAC+USC Medical Center, it is equipped with 3 Varian Linacs (21EX), Varian Eclipse Treatment Planning System, Aria EMR and information system, Varian HDR VariSource, Varian Acuity Simulator and GE CT Simulator. The program evaluates approximately 1, 000 new patients annually. There is an ACGME accredited residency training program. At the USC Norris Cancer Hospital, it is equipped with a state-of-the-art Varian Truebeam STx (installation Winter 2013), Varian Trilogy with IGRT, CBCT, and VMAT capability, Pinnacle Treatment Planning System, Gammaknife Perfexion at Keck Hospital, and CyberKnife, as well as a newly renovated brachytherapy suite, and new Varian Varisource HDR unit (Fall 2013) and episcleral plaque brachytherapy program with the Department of Ophthalmology.
