## Posting Summary:
Dr. Michael Guertin's group is seeking a motivated computational scientist in our Molecular Genomics lab. We are located within the Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics Department and the Center for Public Health Genomics at the University of Virginia. Visit our website: www. guertinlab. org.
About the Guertin Lab: Our group is at the interface of molecular biology and computational biology. We develop and adopt experimental techniques and software to study basic mechanisms of transcription and chromatin function within the context of cancer biology. We apply our methods to a diverse number of projects: inferring and predicting transcription factor binding intensities using Bayesian and machine learning approaches, elucidating the role of spontaneous processed pseudogenes in breast cancer using time-course genomics data, defining mechanisms of glucocorticoid-induced apoptosis, determining the mechanisms of steroid resistance in blood and breast cancer, and constructing transcriptional regulatory networks from genomics data.
We seek a postdoctoral research associate to work on various projects in computational genomics and high-throughput genome analysis. The candidate will participate in the development of novel methods for interpreting genomics data in the context of transcriptional regulatory networks. The candidate will have flexibility to choose his or her own research projects and the majority of the candidate's time will be devoted to their research projects. The candidate will be matched with close mentorship and will have the ability to work towards establishing academic independence.

* Self-motivation and time management skills.
* Independence, creativity, and passion for science.
* Deep understanding and experience with object-oriented programming languages.
* A record of publication in peer-reviewed journals.
