The Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, in Charlottesville, VA, seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to examine Kaposi's sarcoma herpesvirus (KSHV) infection of human tonsilar B cells in the laboratory of Dean H. Kedes, Ph. D. , M. D. The position is for one year and, thereafter, is negotiable. The successful candidate will possess a recently obtained doctoral degree (Ph. D. or M. D. /Ph. D. ) in a biomedical discipline and will join an interactive group of motivated scientists to investigate infection of human tonsilar B cells by KSHV (http://www. jci. org/articles/view/44185). The position requires candidates to be knowledgeable in the isolation and culture of primary human B-lymphocytes, B cell biology and differentiation, and have strong skills (at least 3 years of experience during their graduate work) in biochemistry, molecular biology and flow cytometry. Candidates must have effective oral and written communication skills and at least one and preferably two or more first-author publications. Experience with virology and co-culture techniques as well as three-dimensional culture systems would be helpful but are not required.
