## Posting Summary:
The Department of Statistics at the University of Virginia invites applications for two Postdoctoral Fellow and Lecturer positions to contribute to research and education in computational science and data science. The two positions will collaborate with the Department of Computer Science, which is also conducting searches for two additional Postdoctoral Fellow and Lecturer positions. These positions are for three years, renewed annually contingent on satisfactory performance.
Successful applicants will become part of an exciting cross-disciplinary research group spanning traditional statistical and computer science research modes. Postdoctoral Fellow and Lecturers will benefit from close relationships with faculty in both departments, as well as the opportunity to expand their professional networks and travel to conferences and workshops. To support newly developed undergraduate curricula, successful applicants will be expected to teach one course per semester in an area related to data and computational sciences.
Applicants must present evidence of outstanding accomplishments and promise in research and teaching, as well as evidence of ability and commitment to collaborative research. Priority will be given to applicants with strengths in one of the following areas of research (broadly defined): Machine Learning, Network Science, or Analysis of High-Dimensional Massive Data.
The anticipated start date of these positions is August 25, 2015.
Centrally located in Virginia, Charlottesville boasts a thriving cultural life, easy access to recreational venues and convenient travel to Richmond, Washington D. C. and SAMSI, which make Charlottesville a most desirable place to live.
Applicants must be on track to receive a Ph. D. in Statistics or a related field by May 2015 and must hold a Ph. D. at the time of appointment.
