The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia invites applicants with research interests in biomaterials for multiple tenured or tenure-track positions at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor with the rank being commensurate with experience level. Candidates will have a Ph. D. in Biomedical Engineering or a related field, a record of excellence in scientific research, and a commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Preferred research is in the area of biomaterials design, synthesis and validation. Research is expected to complement current departmental areas of research focus that include computational systems bioengineering, medical and molecular imaging, biomechanics, nanomedicine, and cellular, molecular and tissue engineering. This position is part of a cluster hire in cooperation with the Department of Chemical Engineering, consistent with the school's vision to enhance collaboration across departments, and cross-departmental appointments are available.
