## Posting Summary:

The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia seeks to fill a non-tenure track General Faculty position in Management Communication at the rank of lecturer, assistant professor, or associate professor. The position begins in August 2014. The hired candidate will be part of the Management faculty area of the McIntire School of Commerce and will teach during the fall and spring semesters. The Management Communication curriculum includes managerial writing, report writing; communication strategy; business presentation skills, including online presentation skills; and cross-cultural communication. The successful candidate will teach in McIntire's innovative Integrated Core Experience (ICE), working as part of a cross-disciplinary team of business faculty colleagues. Teaching responsibilities also will include teaching elective communication courses.

The McIntire School of Commerce (http://www. commerce. virginia. edu) awards a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, a Master of Science in Accounting, a Master of Science in Commerce, and a Master of Science in the Management of Information Technology. In 2013, BloombergBusinessWeek magazine again ranked the McIntire School's undergraduate program as second in the nation. Consistent with its Jeffersonian heritage, McIntire enjoys a culture of open exchange among faculty and between faculty and students.

McIntire serves more than 660 undergraduates and 250 graduate students. Undergraduate students enter the Commerce School in their third year at the University. Major professional services firms and many Fortune 500 corporations actively recruit McIntire graduates. In 2008, McIntire moved into a new 156, 000-square-foot academic complex on the Lawn in the heart of UVA's historic Central Grounds, designed by Thomas Jefferson. Charlottesville is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and is rated highly as a desirable location to live.

A Ph. D. is preferred, although applicants may hold a master's degree in English or a communication-related field, plus significant relevant experience. The successful candidate will (1) have taught writing at the college level, (2) have significant experience using contemporary presentation media and social media, (3) have excellent public speaking and business presentation skills, and (4) possess significant knowledge of English composition standards and rhetorical strategies. Experience writing and editing in a corporate environment, as well as knowledge of teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language will be an asset.
