## Posting Summary:
The American Sign Language (ASL) Program at the University of Virginia invites applications to fill part-time non-tenure track instructional position for the 2015-2016 academic year. Compensation will take the form of wages. This position does not offer benefits.
This position will teach undergraduate beginning ASL courses in each the fall 2015 and spring 2016 semesters. The four-hour credit courses meet three times a week in 50-minute classes. Candidates for this position will have a Masters' Degree in ASL, Education, ASL Interpreting, or other related field, a doctorate in such fields preferred. Candidates for this position will have ASLTA or RID certification or be willing to apply for such certification and will have experience teaching ASL at the college or university level.
Qualified candidates for this position will possess native fluency in ASL, have extensive knowledge and understanding of Deaf culture, and be comfortable interacting with the Deaf community and communicating effectively with Deaf and hearing colleagues. Our UVA ASL courses use the Signing Naturally curriculum, so familiarity with this curriculum is a plus, and all our classes are "voice-off" using no spoken language.
