## Posting Summary:

The Department of Cell Biology at the University of Virginia, seeks candidates for a tenure-ineligible Instructor of Research. The successful applicant will work as a member of a team investigating the mechanisms of Salmonella pathogenesis, using both in vitro and in vivo models. Of particular interest will be the study of how bacterial effector proteins manipulate host cells to promote infection of epithelial cells and intracellular survival in macrophages. Responsibilities also include supervision of undergraduate students, advising technicians, and an involvement in writing manuscripts and grants.

Candidates must have a PhD or MD, 5 years of postdoctoral experience in cell biology, microbiology, or molecular biology in areas relevant to topics described above. Expertise in recombinant DNA and biochemical methods, confocal microscopy, and animal models are strongly preferred. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and productively are required.
