## Posting Summary:
The Flow Cytometry Core Facility in the School of Medicine at the University of Virginia is looking for a Flow Cytometry Core Specialist Senior. The incumbent directs and supports planning flow cytometry experiments, operating the flow cytometer, analyzing flow cytometry data, and providing oversight for core clients carrying out flow cytometry experiments. Incumbent may be requested to oversee all aspects of the Flow Cytometry core management in the absence of the core director.
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Physics, Biochemistry, or Immunology. Master's Degree in Biology, Physics, Biochemistry or Immunology preferred. A minimum of 6 years' experience in flow cytometry is required, with at least 1 year of cell sorting. An advanced degree in a related field may substitute for required experience.
Must be able to run both analytical flow cytometers and cell sorters and perform maintenance, work with a wide range of clients and assist them with analyzing and interpreting flow cytometry data, and perform calculations for preparation of lab solutions and stocks. Successful candidate must have practical and theoretical knowledge of flow cytometers and cell sorters and be able to independently plan multicolor flow cytometry experiments and advise clients on the best fluorchrome combinations to use on different instruments.
This position is restricted and is contingent upon funding.

Prefer ability to operate and maintain FACSCalibur, Cyan ADP and LSRII analytical flow cytometers, prefer ability to operate and maintain FACSVantage and BD Influx cell sorters, ARIA Fusion.
