## Posting Summary:
The Compassionate Schools Project affiliated with Youth-Nex and the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia is seeking CALM Wellness Promotion Instructors to lead workplace wellness promotion programs in schools in Louisville, KY. Duties include teaching yoga, mindfulness, breathing exercises, and other contemplative practices to promote wellness, emotional and physical wellbeing, and to build skills for stress-management and self-care. Instructors work 17 weeks over the school year from 8 to 10 morning hours a week. Work includes preparing for and presenting wellness curriculum in school settings and attending team meetings. This is a wage position that does not carry benefits.
At least one year of experience teaching yoga is required. Additional training or experience in mindfulness or other contemplative practices is also required. Certification as a yoga instructor is required. Must have completed a 200-hr teacher training program.
Reliable early morning availability from 7:45-8:45 am and/or afternoon availability from 3:45-4:45 pm on weekdays and strong oral communication skills are a must.
Ability to follow a curriculum, adhere to lesson plans, and be open to feedback and coaching is required. Ability to work effectively instructing groups with diverse backgrounds and abilities is essential.
Experience working with diverse populations outside of a studio setting, e. g. teaching workplace classes or chair-based classes for seniors or special populations is preferred. Prior experience working in a school setting (e. g. as a classroom teacher or support staff), prior work with teachers, or work teaching youth in an educational setting are also preferred. Basic knowledge of word processing and familiarity with e-mail are also required.
