## Posting Summary:
The Department of Surgery and Division of Acute Care Surgery and Outcomes Research at the University of Virginia seeks applications for a full-time tenure-eligible or tenure-ineligible faculty position with a focus in trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care. The incumbent is responsible for the clinical care of patients with acute surgical illness and the education of medical students and postgraduate trainees. In addition, support for the division's efforts in overseas surgery in Rwanda in a teaching capacity is possible, but not required.
Scholarly achievement is expected of this individual with the goal of furthering our knowledge in this field. Rank and tenure status are dependent upon qualification and experience.
Candidates must be board-eligible and/or board-certified in general surgery and have completed a fellowship in surgical critical care. Candidates must have a strong interest in a career in academic medicine.
To be considered for the tenure-eligible position, candidates must have a clear academic plan and/or demonstrated excellence in research and the generation of new knowledge.
The University of Virginia has an ACGME accredited General Surgery Residency program. UVa is located in beautiful Charlottesville at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains with easy driving access to the Atlantic coast and the nation's capital.
