## Posting Summary:
The Department of Pharmacology at the University of Virginia seeks candidates for a faculty position with an emphasis on metabolism, particularly immune-metabolism. The successful candidate will develop an innovative research program that complements the Department's multi-disciplinary research interests in lipid biology, cardio-metabolic disorders, ion channels and neuroscience. We seek candidates who use cutting edge techniques to discover mechanisms that control or are regulated by metabolism in physiology and pathophysiology. The incumbent will enjoy superb resources including a generous start-up package, state-of-the-art core facilities, and a strong collaborative research environment. Rank, tenure status and compensation are dependent on qualifications and experience.
Candidates must have a PhD and/or MD, significant postdoctoral research experience, and high-impact publications in peer-reviewed international scientific journals. Preference will be given to candidates with a record of national funding and a strong interest in metabolic diseases.
To be considered for the tenure-eligible position, candidates must have expertise in basic research and a commitment toward a career in academic science. To be considered for the tenured position, candidates must demonstrate scholarship and excellence in two domains consistent with the requirements for tenure in the School of Medicine.
