POSITION SUMMARY Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, and systems by performing the following duties. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Define requirements and component specifications for panels, wiring harnesses and electrical systems. Ensure and/or acquire component and system compliance with industry standards. Designs and directs engineering personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products. Develops applications of controls, instruments, and systems for new product designs for customer convenience and production plant labor reduction. Interface with propulsion and project groups for system layouts. Generate engineering drawings for new designs and approve all electrical prints for boat release. Review and approve load calculations based on ABYC standards for AC and DC electrical systems. Determine shore power configuration and generator size (120-V, 240-V, 50/60 Hertz) Approve main and distribution panel boards for AC electrical systems. Determine grounding and galvanic protection requirements for AC and DC electrical systems. Determine battery and charging system requirements for DC electrical system. Approve main, distribution, switch, and instrument panels for DC electrical system. Provide technical expertise to project groups and insure consistency between all group electrical documentation, methods, and practices. Generate engineering change notices (ECN) as required. Review and approve owners' manuals for accurate and complete electrical descriptions and information. Attend ABYC electrical project technical committees. Perform final electrical design verification tests. Maintain direct and frequent interface with Sea Ray companies to ensure consistency throughout the organization. Directs and coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations. Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks. Develops new electrical and electronic technology for use in Sea Ray products including; multiplexing, telematics, satellite communication systems, and integrated dash electronics. Integrates BNT products into all Sea Ray boats as well as comprehensive electrical and electronic strategies for all future products. Must follow proper procedures in the safe handling of hazardous wastes, which may be generated during the manufacturing process. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
* Training in computer aided design (CAD)
* Entry level to 2 years experience
* Automotive or marine industry experience preferred.
* Experience in complex electrical design including 110, 220, 12 and 24 volts. Prefer working knowledge of standards applied by the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC).
