With technology continuing to integrate itself into various industries, there is a higher need than ever for people who are qualified to work in information technology (IT). Many companies are integrating the newest software and devices into the way they conduct business in order to properly serve their clients and work efficiently. While many industries are at a lull because of the economic crisis, there is still hope for employment in the technology field.
There has been a dramatic increase in IT hiring in North Carolina, according to the Triangle Business Journal. North Carolina employers posted that there were 1,700 IT positions available during the month of February, which is the highest number since November, 2008. The North Carolina Technology Association recently conducted a study that found that hiring of IT workers increased 33.1 percent during the month of February.
Researchers believe that this to be an indication that job seekers should try to market themselves to the industries that are hiring. Prospective employees who are interested in the technology industry might want to try and brand themselves as IT, as that seems to be one of the fields that is more likely to hire.
"Right now job seekers should increase their efforts and apply for opportunities employers say they have," the researchers wrote, according to the Business Journal.
While the industry may not be on its peak right now, economic analysts believe that IT jobs will be the ones to watch out for in terms of hiring. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in the IT sector is expected to increase by 17 percent by 2018. This figure is higher than the 11 percent increase averaged by all other industries.
