The financial crisis of 2008 pushed the nation into a deep recession that has caused many Americans to grow increasingly frustrated with the state of the market. As a result of this frustration, many individuals have been blaming the Obama administration for making little impact on fixing the economy. With 9.6 percent of all Americans out of work, there is still a long ways to go to putting as many citizens back to work as possible.
President Barack Obama spoke on Labor Day in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to discuss his thoughts on how the economy could potentially affect the Democrat's hold on both the House and Senate come the November elections, according to CNN. President Obama said that he was not worried about the economy affecting his party's hold on Congress, but he was quick to point out that no matter what there is now quick fix for repairing the nation from the recession.
Still, Obama pledged that he plans to keep fighting for Americans to have as many jobs as possible.
"I'm going to keep fighting, every single day, to turn this economy around; to put our people back to work; to renew the American dream for your families and for future generations," Obama said.
The nation's economy is currently in one of the worst predicaments it has been in since the Great Depression. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are more than 14.6 million Americans currently out of work, with more than 8.6 million having been unemployed for six months or more. Some states have fared worse than others in terms of jobless residents. For example, the unemployment rate in North Dakota is 3.6 percent, whereas the unemployment rate in Nevada is 14.3 percent.
