The nation has been drastically affected by the economic recession, which has caused millions of citizens to lose their jobs and a number of companies to close their doors. There are currently more than 14.6 million Americans out of work, with that number expected to grow with the release of the August job numbers at the end of the week. However, the government has been providing a number of financial grants that have been going toward job creation in various sectors.

While the job market may have been slow to recover, a number of analysts believe that the recovery has been better than it has with previous recessions, according to CNN Money. However, these economists are quick to point out that there has not been a recession of this caliber since the Great Depression, and that a strong recovery is needed to pull through.

"If you had a severe recession, you tend to have a strong recovery," Robert Brusca, who works for FAO Economics, told the news provider. "So far that hasn't happened."

However, the highest mark of unemployed Americans was 10.1 percent in October 2009, it has since dropped to 9.5 percent, where it has rested for the past two consecutive months.

This has caused economists to point out that this recession has showed a better example of job formation than the previous two recessions.

One of the criticisms of the recession is that many people have been out of work for extended periods of time. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that there are currently more than 8.6 million Americans who are currently out of work.
