Senior accountants are finding that their services are now sought after by major financial firms who want accountability and auditing knowledge at the highest levels of corporate governance
The Securities and Exchange Commission is looking to improve the use of accounting practices by global companies listed on U.S. exchanges, and accountant Bridgette Hodges will lead the discussion on requirements for disclosure by new foreign private issuers.
Hodges is now a partner in the National Professional Standards Group, leveraging her experience that began as a public auditor and continuing through a variety of foreign companies and Fortune 500 firms. The SEC is hoping that others will be able to take advantage of her experience in complying with the commission's regulations and maintaining effective auditing procedures.
Accountants who are interested can hear her podcast via the Knowledge Congress on October 14 at noon EST.
In Canada, Sun Life Financial is naming an accountant with international experience to be its chief financial officer based on his experience as an accountant and comptroller.
Colm Greyne was named to the permanent position following work at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Ireland before becoming the chief accountant at TD Bank Financial Group in 2003. He later joined Sun Life where he was responsible for financial accountability.
